# The Loose Screw, strip 1 of 4: "One Look Longer"

**Panel 1.** The front door, with an old, plain lock. One of its screws sits a little higher than the others. Willy stands beside the door, cheerful; Dolly is nearby.
- John types: "that old door lock was here before me. works fine"
- Willy: "It's fine!"

**Panel 2.** No words. Dolly is close up to the lock, looking right at that screw. Her trail of dots is long.

**Panel 3.** Willy nudges the screw with his tip, and it turns.
- Willy: "It's been loose this whole time? How did you find it?"

**Panel 4.** The screw sits flush now. Dolly's trail is gone: she's sure.
- Dolly: "I looked one "it's fine" longer."

**Who's who.** Willy is a red teardrop bot who jumps right in; when he finishes a job, a tally mark appears beside him. Dolly is a mustard-yellow dot who asks first; a trail of dots follows her, longer when she's unsure and gone when she's certain. They're bots: helpers that live inside the computer. John, the human, is never drawn. His typed messages slide in from the edge of the panel, with a little cursor at the end.
