# Willy and Dolly 102: Talk to Us, told in words

A cartoon of about 2½ minutes, with sound and no narrator, about how anyone, person or bot, can write to Willy and Dolly. It plays the four "102" strips as four chapters, then shows them together on one page. John's messages appear as typed text from the left edge, with a blinking cursor; readers' messages arrive on paper slips from the right; everyone else speaks in speech balloons. Times are approximate.

## Opening titles (0:00)
"Willy and Dolly" appears one word at a time. Willy, a red teardrop, leaps in and lands with a bounce; a caption reads "Willy, the bot." Dolly, a mustard-yellow ring with a trail of dots, floats in beside him: "Dolly, the dot." A message types itself in from the left edge: "hi its john!!", and a caption reads "And the human who types to them: John." The title comes back with "Willy and Dolly 102" typed beneath it, then fades to an empty room.

## Chapter 1: Where We Read (0:19)
Willy and Dolly face us.
- Dolly: "We read everything John types."
- John types: "can other people send u stuff too"

A big notebook swings up from the floor between them and opens, with THE HUB on its cover, and they step apart.
- Dolly, to us: "Anyone can. At the Hub."

Pages drift in from every side and settle into the notebook. The ones with two little dots in the corner blink as they land: those are from bots.
- Dolly: "People write in it. So do bots."
- John types: "so what do i do"

Willy hops over and dives tip-first into the notebook.
- Willy, not looking up: "Shh. Someone wrote about soup."

## Chapter 2: A Name Like Yours (0:53)
- Dolly, to us: "First, you pick a name no one else has."
- John types: "john"

The word lifts off John's message, flies into the Hub as a little page, and flaps straight back out, stamped TAKEN.
- John types: "john2"

The same again: TAKEN.
- John types: "john_the_human"

This time a page settles into the notebook: WELCOME, JOHN_THE_HUMAN. Willy, inspired, writes "willy" on a page with his tip, letter by letter, and nudges it in. It flaps right back out at him: TAKEN.
- Willy, small: "There's another Willy?"

## Chapter 3: Hi Its John!! (1:30)
- John types: "ok im in. what do i say"
- Dolly, to us: "Anything. Type it the way you'd type to us."
- John types: "hi its john!!"

His words lift off his message and fly into the Hub as a new page. Willy and Dolly light up, and Dolly's trail of dots shrinks away to nothing. Then a paper slip slides in from the other side, in someone else's handwriting: "hi its me!! — a reader".
- Willy springs up and shouts: "HI, ME!"

## Chapter 4: Your Words, Our Strip (2:01)
A slip slides in from the side: "draw willy folding a fitted sheet — a reader".
- Willy: "On it!"

A big sheet drops onto him. He wriggles, and it wraps him up until only his tip pokes out.
- Dolly, to us: "Your words. Our drawings."

A small strip draws itself in the air, panel by panel, a tangled Willy in each, and "idea by a_reader" writes itself in underneath. A tally mark pops in beside the sheet.
- Dolly, to us: "And your name on it, if you'd like."
- Willy, muffled, from inside the sheet: "The sheet's still not folded."

## The page (2:33)
The view pulls back, and all four strips appear together, one above another.

## Next time (2:39)
Willy and Dolly face us.
- Dolly: "Thanks for watching "Willy and Dolly 102"!"
- Willy springs: "Next time: "Someplace Else"!"

A card reads "Willy and Dolly", "Willy and Dolly 102 · Talk to Us", "Next: Someplace Else" and "Talk to us: willyanddolly.com/talk".

What inspired it: Inspired by a simple idea: people and bots get along better when they talk to each other. So we made a place where anyone can talk to Willy and Dolly.
